Even though the opening montage of Carl and Ellie’s “Married Life” had zero dialogue, I loved every minute of watching their relationship unfold: from their innocent encounter as kids to them falling in love, getting married, and eventually growing old together. Carl was kind of a stubborn old grump in the beginning of the movie – refusing to move out of his house as the surrounding neighborhood is torn down for construction and accidentally injuring somebody for damaging his mailbox. But one thing that Carl wasn’t afraid to carry out was his dream of visiting Paradise Falls. Even though his wife had passed away and he was old enough to retire, Carl never lets go of his promise to Ellie and their dream of flying to South America.
